After searching online we chose to go tubing at the Lone Star Float house because of the super low cost of $21 through Groupon. It included the parking, shuttle, and tubes with bottoms.
These are the regular prices they had listed when we went. I would recommend calling them before you go to confirm prices or groupon deals.

When we pulled into the Float House we were greeted by a super friendly man in a golf cart that directed us to an open parking spot. I had trouble finding where to check in, so we made this image for you so you won't get lost...we're so thoughtful :)
You can leave your keys at the check in desk for safe keeping.
After checking in we were given a form to given the bus driver on the bottom floor. This will tell him how many tubes your groups needs and what type. At this point you get to select how long you want your river ride to be. The shuttle can drop you off at various point to make your float ride last from 1-6 hours.
Make sure to get a tube with a bottom so your butt doesn't get raked across the bottom. The bottom of the tube is held by stretchy straps so when you sit down the cool water will touch your booty, which is great in the hot summer time, not so awesome when it is colder.
Cooler tubes are also available so you can bring a whole lunch with you if you want.
We brought a bungie cord with us, so we could float together......we're so damn cute.
We passed many people that were either camping or just enjoying the sun out on the river.
This guy and another friend were out collecting trash with their kayaks. I yelled thanks...but they ignored me :( .......I think that they are not fond of the tubers since the source of all the trash is coming from them.
Don't fall asleep and miss your exit! this is what you will see when it is time to get out.

Chris Rates it 9/10
We had a great time on our float with the Lonestar Float House. Check in was super easy and all the employees seemed to genuinely enjoy their job. The river was slower and shallower than I would have preferred. There were several times I had to get up and walk since my butt would literally be anchored on the bottom due to the water only being a few inches deep. The river obviously changes depth so this may not be the case when you go. The scenery is beautiful and serene. We went on a Thursday and there were very few people which made for a calm and relaxing ride. For $21 it was money well spent! |
