Welcome to the closest thing to Mexico you will find in Austin. The Country Flea Market is home to a wide range of vendors. Their website claims to have 300 spaces, I think only about 50 or less are filled every weekend.
Our favorite part of the market is the food. The snowcones were only $1 a piece, the funnel cake was overpriced though at $7.
If you are a person that thinks everything should be fried than you will enjoy their fried oreos and fried twinkies that they serve. The only real unique food here that separates itself from the typical carnival food is the roasted corn on the cob.
If your kid isn't interested in walking, or has passed out after eating 5 fried twinkies, you can rent a buggy for $6.00 and push his or her limp body around while you shop!
You will find great deals on most of the items here, this is due to that fact that what you are buying is usually a knock off from china that was made with cheaper materials than the real thing.
I'm fan of cheap copies, so let that not keep you from purchasing an item, just be aware of what you are really buying.
Live music is also available during random times of the day.
Once your kid wakes up from his sugar coma and starts whining, grab yourself a frozen margarita for $2.50 and continue to ignore him while you have fun.
Chris Rates it 3/10 The Austin Country Flea Market claims to be one of the top flea markets in the country....it is not. While not a total waste of your time, The market has a old dingy feel to it. There aren't enough vendors, only 3 that serve food from what I counted. To me it feels like you have crossed the border into mexico, which is the only reason to come visit this place rather than garage sale hopping on the weekend.
